Lady Saves a Duke by Annabelle Anders

I hate the cold, and let me tell you, baby it’s cold outside. I swear I spend the first 3 months of the year snuggled in the house, reading everything I can get my hands on. I can’t seem to find a copy of the next Ruth Galloway book at the moment, so I went back to the Lord Loves a Lady series. Book 3 was Lady Saves the Duke.

Amazon Description :

The duke must decide.  Should he make this mouse a respectable offer?  She’s harmless, really. Marrying her shouldn’t upend his life…  His heart, however, is another matter…
Miss Abigail Wright, disillusioned spinster, hides her secret pain behind encouraging smiles and optimistic laughter. Self-pity, she believes, is for the truly wretched. So when her mother insists she attend a house party–uninvited–she determines to simply make the best of it…until an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction.

Alex Cross, the “Duke of Ice,” has more than earned the nickname given him by the ton. He’s given up on happiness but will not reject sensual pleasure. After all, a man has needs.

The week ought to have been pleasantly uneventful for both of them, with nature walks, parlor games, and afternoon teas on the terrace…but for some inferior stitchery on poor Abigail’s bodice.

And now the duke is faced with a choice. Should he make this mouse a respectable offer and then abandon her to his country estate? She’s rather pathetic and harmless, really. Oughtn’t to upset his life whatsoever.

His heart, however, is another matter…

My Opinion:

I started reading this book without knowing anything about it other than that it was the next book in the Lord Loves a Lady series by Annabelle Anders. I simply bought all 6 books at once and am slowly working my way through them. I’m not ashamed to say that I audibly said “Yay!” When I realized this was the story of Abigail and Monfort.

I love that Abigail is not your typical, perfect romance novel heroine. She is a spinster, but has a genuine sweetness about her. Her expressiveness is the polar opposite of Monfort’s Duke of Ice nickname.

Random happenings enter twine their lives. Lady Natalie literally throws them together in a row boat. A heat wave and a late night walk create a scandal. Intrigue, honor and lust bring forth a proposal. The rest is worth reading yourself.

Rating: 4/5

Have a great weekend!

    1. I have just started writing reviews in the last couple months. Quarantine keeps me away from book clubs, so this is my outlet. I would be happy to read your story and write a review though.

      1. That sounds brilliant Kristie! I’m in the process of in-publishing Eighteen Moons on Amazon, loosing 35 reviews, in order to re-publish under the publisher name ‘My a life publishing’! It will allow me to start to sell my books in book stores! A fair few hurdles to go however! Do you have an Amazon account?
